Copyright and takedown requests

Every painting we make starts from a photo a customer uploads, for their own gift. Paintings are private: we never show them to other customers or in our ads. Even so, a photo may be uploaded by someone who had no right to it. This page says how to tell us, and what we do.
Who can report
- Photographers and artists whose photo or artwork was uploaded without permission.
- Brands whose logo, character or mark appears in a painting.
- People who appear in a photo and didn't agree to be painted, or who were painted in a way meant to mock, harass or threaten them. An intimate image of anyone, real or made up, is removed first and fastest.
How to report
Email hello@lovedonesandco.com with "Takedown request" in the subject, and include:
- what is yours (the photo, the artwork, the mark, or your own likeness), and how we can see that it is;
- where you saw it: an order number, a link, or a copy of the painting;
- your name, email address and, if you like, a phone number;
- a sentence saying you believe in good faith that the use isn't permitted by the rights holder or the law;
- a sentence saying that what you wrote is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the rights holder or allowed to act for them;
- your signature (your typed full name is fine).
We reply within 2 business days. A report about an intimate image is acted on within 48 hours.
What we do
- We stop any order for the painting that hasn't been printed yet, and refund it.
- We delete the photo and the painting.
- We tell the person who uploaded it why, and give them a copy of the report (without your contact details, unless the law requires them).
- We keep a record of the report and what we did.
If your order was cancelled
If your painting was cancelled after a report and you believe that was a mistake (for example, it's your own photo, or the person in it is you), reply to our email and say why, with your name and contact details. We look at it again, and if the report doesn't hold up, we remake your order at no cost.
Repeat infringers
We keep a log of upheld reports. Anyone with two upheld reports can no longer order from us, and we may decline a single order where the breach is clear and deliberate. We also report content that exploits children to the authorities.
Our own rules
Our Terms already say what we won't paint: children, famous people, characters, logos, nudity, and anything meant to harm someone. Our photo check looks for these before anything is painted, and we look at every order before it goes to print. Reports help us catch what slips through.
