Privacy Policy
Last updated October 19, 2026
The short version
We use your photo to make your painting. We delete it 30 days after you upload it. We never use it to train AI, and we don't use face recognition. We share it only with the companies that make your painting and your order.
We don't sell your information for money. Our ad pixel can count as "sharing" under California law, and you can switch it off in Your privacy choices below.
What we collect
- Your photo, and any name or text you type for the painting. When a photo arrives we remove the hidden details a camera stores in it, such as where and when it was taken.
- Your email address, when you order, or when you ask us to email you your preview.
- Your name and shipping address, when you order, so it can be delivered. We don't ask for your phone number.
- Payment details, handled entirely by Stripe. We never receive your card number.
- How you use the site: the pages you visit and the buttons you tap, your browser and device, and your internet (IP) address with the rough area it points to (your state). We use these to keep the site working, to show delivery dates for where you are, and to measure our advertising.
What our AI does with your photo
Our AI looks at your photo only to check what kind of photo it is (people, a pet or a home, how many, whether a child is in it, and whether it shows anything we can't print) and to paint from it. It doesn't try to work out who anyone is. We don't use face recognition, and we don't keep any description of the people in your photo. The check keeps only its answer (for example "two adults, close up"), and only while your painting exists.
Who helps us make your order
These companies receive your information only to do their part. None of them may use it for anything else.
- OpenAI checks your photo and paints from it, through its API. OpenAI does not use what we send to train its models. It may keep it for up to 30 days to check for abuse, then deletes it.
- Printify and its US print partners print and ship your order, using your name, shipping address, email and the print file of your painting.
- Stripe handles payments.
- Cloudflare hosts the site and stores your photo and painting while we need them.
- Resend sends our emails.
Measurement and advertising
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram) helps us measure and improve our ads, through its pixel on this site and its Conversions API. Meta receives your IP address and browser type, the cookies it sets here (_fbp and _fbc), a scrambled (hashed) visitor number, and the steps you take, such as uploading a photo (with what kind of photo it is: people, a pet or a home), seeing a preview, adding to cart or buying, with the product and the price. When you buy, or ask us to email your preview, Meta also receives a scrambled (hashed) copy of your email, and when you buy, scrambled copies of your name, city, state, ZIP code and country. Meta never receives your photo, your painting, your street address or your phone number. Meta may use cookies and similar technology on this site to measure and target ads. You can opt out of interest-based ads at optout.aboutads.info and in your Facebook ad preferences, as well as with the button below.
- PostHog shows us how the site is used: which buttons people tap, what they choose, where they get stuck, and recordings of what happens on the page. The recordings hide what you type into boxes such as your email, and your photo and painting are hidden from them.
- Microsoft Clarity records sessions in the same way, with masking: what you type is hidden, and so are your photo and painting. We partner with Microsoft Clarity and Microsoft Advertising to capture how you use and interact with our website through behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replay to improve and market our products and services. Website usage data is captured using first and third-party cookies and other tracking technologies to determine the popularity of products and services and online activity. Additionally, we use this information for site optimization, fraud and security purposes, and advertising. For more information about how Microsoft collects and uses your data, visit the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
- Google Analytics 4 counts visits: which pages are opened, from what kind of device and roughly where, and which steps are taken. We don't send it your name, email or photo.
Meta, Microsoft and Google may collect information about your activity on this site and on other sites over time. None of these services ever receives your photo or your painting. All of them are off for anyone who opts out below or whose browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal.
Emails we send
When you order, we email you a confirmation, a tracking link when it ships, and one email after delivery asking how it turned out. If you ask us to email your preview, we send it, and after that only what the box you ticked said: one reminder, a few reminders, or our news about twice a week. If you start a checkout, tick Stripe's box to hear from us, and don't finish, we may send you one email about it. All of these stop when you buy or unsubscribe, with the link at the foot of every email. Emails about an order you placed still come.
How long we keep things
- Your photo is deleted 30 days after you upload it. A copy made when you try another style is deleted on the same day as the original.
- Your painting, and the name or text that goes with it, is deleted 30 days after it is made. If you order it, we keep it 30 days from your order, so your order emails keep working.
- An email address you gave us only to receive your preview is deleted within 30 days, unless you asked to hear more from us; then we keep it until you unsubscribe.
- If you unsubscribe, we keep a scrambled (hashed) copy of your email address, with no end date, only so we never email you again.
- Our record of your order (your email, name and address) is deleted about 40 days after you order. Stripe and Printify keep their own records of payments and deliveries, and we keep sales records for as long as tax law requires (at least 4 years in California).
- Our partners keep what they receive for their own set times: OpenAI up to 30 days, Microsoft Clarity recordings 30 days, PostHog recordings 30 days and other usage data 1 year, Google Analytics up to 14 months, Resend's email logs 30 days, and Cloudflare's site logs up to 7 days. Meta keeps what it receives under its own privacy policy.
Your privacy choices
You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information by emailing hello@lovedonesandco.com. We answer within 45 days, and we never treat you differently for asking.
Do not sell or share my personal information. Our advertising pixel can count as selling or sharing under California law, so you can switch it off, along with our site analytics and recordings, for this browser:
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat that as an opt-out automatically and you don't need to press anything. We don't respond to the older Do Not Track setting. Global Privacy Control and the button above are the ways to switch tracking off here.
California residents
Under the CCPA and CPRA you have the right to know what personal information we collect and why (this page says so), to delete it, to correct it, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for advertising (the button above), and not to be treated differently for using these rights. To use them, email us. We don't share your personal information with other companies for their own marketing. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
Children
This site is for adults. We don't accept photos of children, and we don't knowingly collect any information from anyone under 13. If a photo of a child is uploaded, we decline it and delete it at once.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, if we have your email for an order that isn't finished yet, we'll tell you by email.
